Cap and trade: Obama's Tax on the poor

Hey guys, happy Independence Day.  Well we have a huge Cap and Tax bill passed and soon we'll all be hit hard.  No doubt the current administration (I use the term loosely) will blame either A: Bush or B: the wealthy for the upcoming rise in energy costs.  This cap and tax nonsense is pretty simple.  It regulates how much CO2 emissions.  If a company produces more than their cap, they receive a tax penalty.  Well these companies are going to do what makes sense and not eat the penalty, they're going to pass the cost along to the consumers through rising prices.

Now before you get all high and mighty claiming them to be evil, lets get 2 things straight.  1.  They're a business, it's their job to make profit, and it isn't their fault that the government passed this law.  2.  CO2.  That's Carbon Dioxide.  The stuff you exhale.  The stuff plants breath to survive and pump out oxygen to us.  That's what the cap and tax is on.  The government is saying it's a pollutant.  Read this related article: Updated with EPA response: Is the EPA suppressing or withholding information on global warming?  So companies are being taxed for exhaling on a larger scale, and they're going to pass it on to us.

If the Obama Admin and the Dems REALLY and TRULY wanted to cut these so-called "pollutant" levels, they should have passed a bill that gives tax incentives to companies who stay under their "cap".  The only problem with that plan is they gain no money from it.  Companies who choose not to would continue paying the same amount in taxes as they have, and companies that conformed to this plan would pay less the the government.  That's more power to the private sector and the government won't have that, so they did the opposite, and don't care if they screw over Johnny Taxpayer along the way.

Not that I'm surprised.  How convenient that whenever the Liberals try to propose a bill that will bend America over the counter, the media quickly finds something else to cover.  Be it the AIG Bonus scandal or the death of a pop icon, you can guarantee that this admin of criminals will rush to take advantage of the situation.

An Atheist Conservative

Hi folks, right off the bat I want it out in the open that while I do consider myself a conservative, I don't base my views in that of any faith.  Logic and Reason direct my moral compass.  This isn't to say I don't believe in any of the ideals presented in the Bible, I believe strongly in The Golden Rule: Due unto others as you would have them do unto you.  I do believe the Constitution of the United States, I believe that smaller government and tax reform could make this country great.  I do believe that we need our military to be out in the world as well as at home.  On that last note, I only feel that way because if we were to say, withdraw our troops from hostile territory, our enemies would take it as a sign of weakness, that even the great USA flew in fear of their mighty power, and they could grow the confidence to try and strike us.

I believe that of all the educational neglect our country burdens our children with, a lack of economics at the elementary level is the greatest, and I think the average American's debt is proof of that.  Schools leave this education, which I find vital, in the hands of parents.  Were parents competent enough to take on this role, we wouldn't have our current financial crisis, as the average American would be fiscal enough to understand what they can and can't afford.

Anyway, that's just a little about myself and my views, feel free to comment.
